Host Family Information
What to consider
Hosting an international student is a rewarding experience, through which you can learn first hand about another culture without leaving the comfort of your own home. Some things to consider when deciding if hosting a student is right for your family:
✓ Do all members of your family want to be involved in the hosting experience and are interested in learning about other cultures?
✓ Can you provide the students with their own furnished bedroom (with desk and window)?
✓ Are you able to provide 3 meals per day (includes a packed lunch for school)?
✓ Can you be available for occasional driving?
✓ Host families must obtain and submit a current Police Vulnerable Sector Clearance to Hospitalité Canada.
Having an international student in your home takes time, patience, and a willingness to share. Host families will be provided with training sessions by Hospitalité Canada staff. Part of the fun is learning and celebrating our cultural and personal similarities as well as differences. Hospitalité Canada will support you throughout this experience, whether it’s your first time hosting or you’ve done this many times before.
